Will my DNA be stored and used?
Cignpost Diagnostics does not process or store customers’ DNA for any purpose. Human DNA is collected incidentally as part of the sample collection process and is not used for COVID-19 testing. Our PCR testing process is based on the detection of viral RNA (ribonucleic acid) to determine if someone has COVID-19. We only use RNA for conducting COVID-19 testing in line with the UK Health Security Agency’s requirements.
All samples collected as part of the COVID-19 testing process are destroyed in line with the Royal College of Pathologists Guidelines once the testing process is complete and results have been shared with you, as our customer, and the UK Health Security Agency.
Is my sample stored?
Cignpost Diagnostics stores the minimum number of samples for us to satisfy our obligations from a quality assurance perspective in line with our ISO accreditation. These samples are used for quality control and training purposes and are tested solely for COVID-19. All other samples collected as part of the COVID-19 testing process are destroyed once that testing process is complete and results have been shared with you, as our customer, and the UK Health Security Agency.
